Bedroom Chair

We found this chair by the roadside in a recent council clean up. It was covered in a terrible home handyman upholstery job with tacks hammered everywhere. The back was completely covered in foam. So far I've stripped and sanded it - now what fabric to use???? Watch what happens next - stay posted.

The Wharf Locavore

I visited one of our stockists, The Wharf Locavore, last weekend. The shop looked fantastic, the coffee was excellent and the weather was drop dead gorgeous. We're talking location, location, location! Make sure you visit this historic wharf when next near Tathra. If you're not into shopping or coffee and cake (hello boring!) then you can drop a fishing line over the edge to catch dinner.

Vera Neumann

I'm a big fan of vintage Vera Neumann textiles. I found a Vera tablecloth and 4 napkins on ebay recently. They'll look fantastic in patched clothing alongside other vintage textile finds. Love her ladybird insignia.

A Suzani Mattress?

Yesterday in the studio, mum and I experimented with making a floor cushion in the French mattress style. We used a large piece of embroidered suzani from Uzbekistan. It's not finished as it's quite hard work hand-stitching around the thick edge. Will post a photo when it's finished.

Some New Stuff

A few piccies of bits and pieces we're busy working on. Loving our bags made from old oil paintings. Only have three in stock because the oil paintings on unstretched canvas are pretty tricky to find. No pictures of clothing yet but we've got some gorgeous pieces in production. I'll keep you posted.

Doing the laundry

I was hanging out some of our beautiful textiles (after mum had soaked and washed them to try and get rid of age spots and stains) and thought they were worthy of a photo. Bright emboidery on old heavy linen does it for me every time! You might also spot a piece of silk/cotton ikat and a piece of Nani Iro double gauze amongst the old tablecloths.

Flamingirl

I visited another friend's studio last week and purchased (we actually did a swapsie!) one of her gorgeous prints. It's sitting in my bedroom so I can perve on Flamingirl often. The artist is Julie Mia Holmes of 'Bat & Owl Press' and you can read her blog here. She hand-prints beautiful animal images and sometimes embroiders over the print.
